George L Rodriguez Jr. loving Dad, Grandpa & great-grandpa and father in law passed away on Monday November 9th, 2020. He was 94 years old.
Because of the terrible pandemic we are in, he was unable to be surrounded by his loving family at the hospital
George (Toti) was born in El Paso and grew up in his hometown of Socorro where he was well known. He raised his family together with his wife, Alicia, three sons: Joseangel Sr. (Elena), Eugene (Mona) & Raymond (Norma) and his only daughter Georgina Tafoya (Ramiro). He was also survived by seven grandchildren JoseAngel Jr. (Shinta) in Seattle, Eugene Jr., Joshua, Joel, and Joshua Ray, two granddaughters Stephanie and Amber Rae. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren Mikayla and Jovan. George was a lifetime devoted member of La Purisima Mission in Socorro.
Dad was reunited with mom in heaven in time to spend their soon-to-have-been 73rd wedding anniversary dancing the night away like they often did here on Earth. We lost our Mom this past February. He was also preceded in death by his dad George L Rodriguez Sr. & Mother Damasia. He outlived 3 sisters and 2 brothers. He was the only sibling alive.
George was part of the Naval Logistics Support Co 517. He trained in Williamsburg, Virginia and served in the Pearl Harbor Submarine Base in Hawaii. His rank was S2c Seaman Apprentice. He served during World War II, 1945-1946 on vessel USS ARD 13.
George worked for the Ysleta Station Irrigation Division. He went on to put 27 years with the Department of the Army Civil Services White Sands. He retired from the Ysleta Independent School District after ten years. His retirement was spent working on projects and repairs around the house. He enjoyed repairing outdoor equipment, to include lawn mowers, edgers, etc. for neighbors and other acquaintances. He loved spending time with his pets which brought him much joy!

He will be laid to rest with his wife at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
Our family wishes to convey our sincere thanks and appreciation to our sister, Gina for all the special care & unconditional love she gave to both our parents throughout the journey in their lives and especially during their golden years. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Dad will also be missed by his extended family, nephews and nieces, as well as many friends!
