George “Turtle” Prieto, 74, Left us to be with “Our Beloved Lord” on March 23, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents: Francisco & Laurencia Prieto, siblings: Gilberto Prieto, Ramona Mariscal, Yolanda Powers, Dolores Valdespino, and granddaughter: Faith Alexi. Survived by his wife: Estela Prieto, daughters: Lori Prieto-Jereb, Gina O’Connel, son-in-laws: Ted Jereb, Kevin O’Connell, 8 grandchildren: Johnny, Anthony, Allie, Jake, Jo, Neena, Sophia, Anna, and 1 great-grandson: George, siblings: Lupe Miller, Mario Prieto, Frank Prieto, David Prieto, and Dolly Rivero along with numerous nieces and nephews. George was a tile setter by trade and was a gifted craftsman. He loved music, dancing, football, and his yard-work. George was a generous Christian and humbly served his fellow man. He recently volunteered at the nursing home to assist his wife Estela & other residents; he was a friend to many. His love, time and joy were devoted to his entire family, cherishing the time spent with his grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Turtle". Turtle will forever live in our hearts and be with us in spirit. His favorite song was "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong... our Turtle, what a wonderful man! Visitation: Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 5:00pm-9:00pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home with a vigil to follow at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass: Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 10:00am with interment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Services under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina, 598-3332.
