As Fred's best friend, I travelled with him over the entire West, seeing great scenery and having wonderful times exploring and photographing and camping in the wilderness. As a born-again Christian, I led Fred to Christ. He became  my first convert. I hope God has a special wilderness planet for us to explore in Heaven. See you then, Fred!

AS Fred's best friend who shared many trips to the West, who led him too the Lord Jesus Christ, I look forward to seeing him in the next life and discovering the new adventures god has for us.

Fred and I explored the scenic American West before it became popular. The scenery was fantastic and our fellowship priceless. I will miss him, until I get to Heaven and see him again. He was the first person I led to Christ. Maybe God will give us our own planet to explore--for eternity.

As Fred's best friend in Dallas, Texas, I traveled with him all over the American southwest, seeing mountains, desert, lakes and rivers, and with our mutual friend David Murphy, went to northern Minnesota, where we camped, fished, paddled our canoe. BUT,  having wrecked the propeller on David's boat when it hit an underwater rock, i had to swim to Canada to get help from a Canadian ranger, who used his boat to haul us back to our entry point in Minnesota. I thus became a "reverse wetback," a dubious distinction if there ever was one. The water was cold and northern pike were biting my toes the whole way over. I badly miss my two dear friends, but know that I will see Fred again, for he was the first person I led to Christ after I became a born-again Christian in August 1971. David, unlike Fred, apparently was a staunch Catholic and believed that salvation was
implicit in belonging to that church. We will both miss him.
