Frank was born June 29, 1944, in El Paso, Texas to Frank and Reida Stewart. As a young man, Frank as interested in hotrod cars, wrestling, and helping on his family’s farm and ranch. Frank met the love of his life, Carolyn Gottschalk, when she moved to El Paso from Winters, TX to teach Home Economics and Home & Family living at Coronado High School. Later, Carolyn moved to Lubbock to earn a Master’s degree from Texas Tech, where Frank sent roses and wished for her to return to him in El Paso. After some time of insistent begging, Carolyn returned to El Paso. They were married on March 22, 1969. Together, Frank and Carolyn had two sons, Frank “Tres” Davant Stewart III and Timothy Carl Stewart.
Frank’s entrepreneurial goals began early in his life, as he was independent and driven. He found inspiration in others – he was always reading and learning new ideas from books and magazine articles. He enjoyed attending conferences and picking the brains of other ranchers and businessmen.
Through his dedicated focus, Frank owned and managed his Sonitrol business and his cattle ranches located in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. What Frank enjoyed most was sharing his work with his sons. As a father, he taught the boys to be honest and hard-working. He served at Coronado Baptist Church as a Deacon, Greeter, and Awana Counsel Time leader. One of his greatest passions was working with children. He was known for his loving smile and that he was always willing to get down on one knee to greet even the small children of the congregation. During the quarantine, he sent each T & T student a handwritten letter weekly to keep the children encouraged. Many times, in the middle of a discussion or during ranch work, he would stop and say, “This would make a great story for the children next week!” He was constantly looking for inspiration to aid him in his most valuable work – to help children know the Lord. He was known by the children, not only as Mr. Frank who taught them the Bible, but Mr. Frank who always had “Dum Dums” for them. He used these candies to teach them about howing gratitude to those around them. He will be greatly missed by these children.
He is survived by his bride, Carolyn Stewart, his sons: Frank “Tres” Davant Stewart III and his wife Audrie, Timothy Carl Stewart and his wife Hannah, and his grandchildren: Ellee, Kaylee, Graham,
and Kade Stewart. He is also survived by his mother, Reida Stewart, and brother, James Stewart.
A private family graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. MST on Thursday, December 10, 2020,
