Florencio L. Lucero, 84, passed away on February 8, 2017 at his home in El Paso, Texas. Florencio is preceded in death by his sons Hugo Lucero and Luis Antonio Lucero. Florencio is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carmen J. Lucero, his sons Javier Lucero and his wife Brenda Lee Lucero, Carlos David Lucero, Arturo Lucero, his daughter Yvonne del Carmen Guzman and her husband Jose Antonio Guzman, daughter-in-law’s Olga Lucero and Dana Brazil and Grandchildren Stephen Matthew, Kathryn Lee, Michael Antonio, Austin, Nicholas, Nicki, David, Sydney, Sebastian. Florencio was born and raised in Juarez Mexico and is the 6th child of Jose Guadalupe and Ramona Lopez Lucero. Florencio moved to the United States and became a naturalized citizen in 1960. In his early years he traveled throughout California working odd jobs to support his new family. Florencio married Carmen on September 18th, 1958 after meeting at Business school. After moving to El Paso in 1964 Florencio established a home and built a life for his wife and 6 children. Florencio worked to ensure that his wife and children had every opportunity to live the American dream. Florencio’s biggest gift to his children was to provide the opportunity to pursue a higher education. Florencio retired from Phelps Dodge after 32 years of service and enjoyed his retirement by traveling to Europe, visiting his children across the US, and pursuing many home projects. Florencio will be missed and is loved by his family. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 10:00am; Interment to follow at a later date at Evergreen East Cemetery.
