Flora A. Alarcon passed away on June 4, 2010. She remains eternal in our thoughts and in her legacy. Flora is remembered for her intelligence, integrity, dignity, determination and above all her love of family. Flora was born in El Paso in 1934 and graduated from Austin High School in 1952. She received her B.A. in Business Administration with honors from Texas Western College in 1956. Flora worked for the City of El Paso in various capacities for 21 years and retired as Community Development Program Administrator in the Department of Community and Human Development. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Alarcon, daughter Susanna, parents Francisco and Dolores Alderete Sr., brother Francisco Alderete Jr. and sister Hortencia Wells. She leaves behind her daughter Melissa Alarcon Luther, son-in-law Paul Luther, beloved granddaughter Madeleine, sister Alicia Rivas (Alex Rivas), brother Carlos Alderete (Amparo Alderete) and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Paul Luther, Alex P. Rivas, Albert Rivas, James Wells, Daniel Porras and Philip Morton. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2010 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM, with Rosary at 7:00PM at Harding-Orr & McDaniel Funeral Home, 320 Montana Ave. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 9:30AM at St. Patrick Cathedral, 1118 N. Mesa St. Interment will follow at Ft Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Harding-Orr & McDaniel Funeral Home, 320 Montana Ave.
