Finis A. Werner

May 11, 1924 – March 1, 2016

F.A. passed peacefully into the hands of our Lord on March 1, 2016. Born in Hermleigh, Texas on May 11, 1924 to Finis Andrew Werner and Etta Mae Appleton, pioneer West Texas families. After graduation from Hermleigh high school he attended Texas College of Mines (UTEP) for 2 years prior to the breakout of WWII. He Joined the U.S. Navy where he served in 91st U.S. Naval construction Battalion in South Pacific. After the war he returned to El Paso and worked for TNM&O Coaches (Greyhound) throughout Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. He then graduated from refrigeration school in Ft. Worth Texas and again returned to El Paso and stated Artic Refrigeration Co. He completed his career in Civil Service as Shop Forman at Ft. Bliss and McGregor Range where he retired after 25 years of service. In 1957 F.A. married the love of his life Mildred (Mickey) Davis, who preceded him in death. F.A. and Mickey spent over 50 years by each other’s side and could be seen together at functions throughout El Paso. F.A. was a 60 year plus Master Mason being initiated in 1952 and achieving a 33rd degree. He served the Masonic Lodge in many prominent positions, both in the El Paso Lodge and the Texas Grand Lodge. As a member of the Wallace Hughston Masonic lodge he was instrumental in the design and building of the Northeast El Paso Lodge. An avid UTEP supporter in both academics and athletics he held season tickets in both football and basketball for over 50 years and served as the president of the UTEP evening Touchdown Club. He is survived by sons Stafford and Andrew (Akemi). Grand Daughters Stacey (Barrett), Shea (Ben), Shawn (Marco) and Kaylee. Great Grandsons Stafford & Jaxon Wittington and Simon Viramontes. Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 7 PM, Friday March 11th at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday March 12 at 1:00 PM at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
