Fernando Rene Escobar, age 60, of Canutillo, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021. "Fernie" as he was known to all of his friends, was born June 1, 1960 in El Paso, Texas to parents Emilio and Elia Escobar. He graduated from Canutillo High School in 1979 and was lifelong resident of Canutillo.
He enlisted into the Marine Corp in 1979 and proudly served for 4 years and in 1982 he was Honorably
Discharged. However, once a marine always a marine. After serving he returned home to help his father run the family-owned business Escobar Wholesale Corn Distributors in 2016 he carried on the family legacy until his recent passing.
Fernando is survived by his children Mandy Tierres, Heather Lopez, Christopher Escobar, Emmanuel Escobar, grandchildren McKayla, Natalee, Anastasia, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Isaac, Julian, Josiah and great grandchild Lyriic. He is also survived by his siblings Emilio Jr, Norma, and Leobardo.
A visitation for Fernando will be held Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a vigil to begin at 6:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home - West, 5054 Doniphan Drive, El Paso, TX 79932. The Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 12:00 PM at St Matthew Catholic Church, 400 W Sunset, El Paso, Texas 79922 followed by a graveside service and burial at 1:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
