Felix Apodaca, age 72, of El Paso, Texas passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. The last of 5 children, he was born in Ysleta to Isaac and Librada Apodaca. He is survived by his wife Norma Luz Apodaca and daughter Jennifer Apodaca. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and Padrino. He was the family handyman earning the nickname “Uncle Fix-it” from his nephews and nieces who honored him with portraits of a big man with suspenders, and a smiley face with a mustache drawn in crayon and marker.
Countless memories include his over-the-top camping trips with family and friends. He taught his only child and several generations of nephews and nieces how to fish, but was more than a “teach a person how to fish” kind of guy. He believed in fair access to watering holes and fishing poles, and fought for workers' rights, fair wages, and marched with his union compas in picket lines as a member, former shop steward, treasurer, and President of the American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO, El Paso Local 180 (United States Postal Service). He may have retired his childhood cowboy hat and leather jacket but never stopped loving the Dallas Cowboys. He loved working in his woodshop, eating biscochos, drinking coffee, and making his mother’s gingerbread with his daughter, nieces, and nephews. His memory will always fill a big place in our hearts.
