

Jesus Christ wanted her to join Him in heaven and be with her parents Eduardo and Mercedes Ochotorena and aunt, Maria de Jesus Sepulveda. She was ill with various ailments but always did the best she could beyond expectations.
Vangie was a loving, caring, and considerate wife, mother, and grandmother. She was always thoughtful of helping her immediate family, extended family members, and others before thinking about herself. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and reading recipes. She prepared excellent meals and baked goods. She is survived by her husband, Ignacio Sotelo, sons Gabriel and Christopher, daughter, Christina Blake, sister, Corinne O Payan, brothers, Edward Jr., and Xavier Ochotorena, granddaughters, Viviana and Nilah Blake, thirteen nephews, twelve nieces, and very dear cousin, Anita Nicchio.
Vangie was employed at the Texas Department of Human Services (TDHS) for thirty-three years performing social work services. She retired from the agency on August 31, 2003. She was a Supervisor for TDHS whose unit was responsible for determining the eligibility of indigent mothers applying for financial, medical, and food stamp assistance. Vangie was an excellent supervisor and mentor for her caseworkers, and compassionate with her clients.
Visitation will be held on Sunday November 11, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Martin Funeral Home Central at 3839 Montana Avenue. Funeral mass will be on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Cathedral and internment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be her brothers, Edward Jr., and Xavier Ochotorena, brother-in-law, Fernando Payan.Jr., nephew, Patrick Ochotorena, brothers-in-laws Luis Sotelo, Arturo Sotelo, Martin Sotelo, and Raymundo Sotelo.
