Estela was born in El Paso, Texas on January 21, 1922 to Rafael and Esperanza Castañon. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by five of her brothers and sisters.
Estela was a mother of three children whom she raised with love and devotion.
As a Social Worker at Houchen Community Center from 1969 to 1987, Estela was known for her compassion to her students who range from grade school to senior citizens, teaching them how to sew, arts and crafts, and most of all a sense of community that she was most proud of.
She is survived by her children Leticia Martinez (Carlos), Edgar Chacon (Yvonne), and Sylvia Acuna (David), her grandchildren Stella, Jennifer, Andrea, April, Alex, and Andrew. Also, five great grandchildren, and countless of Nieces and Nephews whom she adored.
Aside from the children she doted on, Estela is survived by her Brother, Roberto Castañon.
Services will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home, 12400 Montana, on March 13, 2024 at 10AM. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery East.
