Ernesto Estevan Rios, 50, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014. He was born October 12, 1963 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was raised in El Paso and was a graduate of Austin High School, Class of 1982. Ernie was a member of the Panther Cross Country Team, memories he cherished all the days of his life. Upon graduation he enjoyed playing basketball and softball with his friends. He also coached and played for the Bandits Softball Team and enjoyed every minute of it. Golfing with his sons, daughter and family was another sport he enjoyed. Ernie was employed by Coefficient Electric. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union No. 583. He gave 28 years of service. Ernie is preceded in death by his father, Ignacio Estevan Rios and grandmother Leonides Ponce. He is survived by his beloved mother, Josephine Ponce Rios, his loving wife of 24 years, Irene G. Rios and his three beautiful children, Ernesto Estevan Rios, Jr., Andrew Ryan Rios and Kristin Irene Rios, whom he loved and cherished with all his heart. He is also survived by his siblings, Xavier Rios (Maria), Rosario Maria Gonzalez (Oscar), Arturo and Jose Rios, and his extended family to include, his aunts, uncles, nieces nephews and cousins were a big part of his life. Ernie has gone to be with our loving Lord, where he can now enter the beautiful Kingdom of Heaven. Pallbearers: Oscar Gonzalez, Oscar Gonzalez Jr., Danny Padilla, Don Finley, Gilbert Camacho, Mike Zuniga, Ernesto Rios Jr., and Andrew Ryan Rios. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
