It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our precious Nikki Wilson on July 18, 2022. Erin Nicole was born in Oxnard, California to James and Cathie Lewis on August 31, 1969 and lived in El Paso most of her life. Nikki graduated from Hanks HS and earned a BS and MA degree in Education from UTEP. She began her teaching career at Hilley Elementary where she taught 1st and 4th grade and in the Autistic Unit. She continued her career at Sue Shook teaching Special Education. Her last years were as a diagnostician at Shook and Carrasco. A multitude of students remember her as being loving, kind and patient. Nikki was recognized as Teacher of the Year and she made lifelong friends among her fellow educators. Nikki was married to John Wilson, who cherished her, on February 22, 1997. They welcomed two children whom she adored, Hayley in 1999 and Tyler in 2000. In addition, there was always a beagle in the household for her to spoil, particularly Bailey. Nikki took great pride in her children and supported them in all their activities; Hayley’s ballet, volleyball and cheerleading; Tyler’s t-ball, football and later basketball. However, schoolwork was always the first priority. Nikki battled scleroderma, a dreadful autoimmune disease from the time she was a teenager. She never complained or felt sorry for herself or let it control her life. Nikki’s life reflected love and kindness, a wonderful sense of humor and a strong faith in her Savior. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, children and parents. Others include her sister Kelly (Brian), her brother Devin (Joy) and their children; her mother and father in law, Ellen and John Wilson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Special thanks to Pastor Dan Baumler of Christ our Redeemer Lutheran Church for all his love and support. Thanks also to her cousin Laurie Weddig and Sister Kelly for organizing the Celebration of Nikki’s life. Our sincere gratitude to those who called, sent cards and flowers, who provided food and numerous others for their outpouring acts of kindness. The family requests that you consider memorial donations to the National Scleroderma Foundation, the Scleroderma Research Foundation or to the Humane Society.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MartinFuneralHomeEast.com for the WILSON family.
