She was the co-founder of Good Luck Café. She assumed the reins of the restaurant upon the death of her husband, Joe Ruben Puentes, in 1976.
She is survived by her children, Paula Puentes, Ruben Puentes, Martha Berry (Chuck), Manuel Puentes (Elena) and Gloria Stephens (Bobby Joe); ten grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. two sisters, Soledad Gomez and Amalia Ramirez, one brother, Lorenzo Gomez; several nieces and nephews; and all of her employees.
A very special thank you to her home care providers, Velia Martinez de Ortiz and Esther Delgado. They made her life a little easier with their warm care. Also a very special thank you to her favorite doctor, Dr. Pablo Casares. You made her feel special and took the time to listen to her. Thank you!
Family, friends and anyone whose life she touched are invited for visitation at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina from 4-8 P.M. on April 24, 2024. Rosary will be at 6 P.M.
Mass will be at San Antonio de Padua Church, 503 Hunter, on April 25, 2024 at 9:30 A.M. followed by burial service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza.
Reception to follow at Yarbrough Party Hall, 550 N. Yarbrough from 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. We request no alcohol beverages.
