Mom lived her life in true faith and loving generosity for all. Our family historian, Mom always recounted to everyone stories of family and her life. A lifelong resident of Ysleta, she attended Ysleta Grade School and graduated from Ysleta High School. As a child, Mom would help her Papa Chuy plant chili and always made it known that she was undeniably his favorite. As a teen, Titi worked at her aunt’s and uncle’s store, Ren’s Superette, and as a young adult, she worked at Kress’s 5 & 10. She also worked at the Cotton Association with the Bracero Program where she fondly remembered helping people gain employment and bring their families to the U.S. In 1954, Mom worked at the Agricultural Extension Service where she was recommended for a teller position at the El Paso National Bank and later worked in the Loan Department. She then went to work at the El Paso County Tax Assessor’s Office in the Auto Title and Plates Division before returning to the El Paso National Bank. While there she met and remained lifelong friends with Mary Lou Lara, Ray III’s Godmother. Our families spent several memorable vacations together. Mom also recounted precious family trips with her siblings and cousins traveling across the U.S., many times in caravan.
In 1977, Mom was among the first faculty and staff that opened Ysleta Junior High School where she worked as the Attendance Clerk. Many a student crossed Mom’s path when she somehow caught them off campus without parental approval. She surely provided a mother’s guidance that many former students still remember today. Thereafter, Mom decided to retire to help care for her grandsons, Ray IV and Marco.
Mom’s legacy and love language were family and food. Mom and Dad were married on June 24, 1956, with Mom saying that the ONLY boyfriend Guelo Jim let into his house was Dad. Sundays at Mom’s and Dad’s included a house full of immediate and extended family members, friends, and clergy visiting and enjoying her delicious home-cooked food. You could not be at Grandma’s house without at least three TV’s on, each with a different game or sporting event showing. Mom loved her Golden State Warriors, her beloved New York Yankees, and anyone who was playing against the Boston Red Sox.
In her senior years, Mom enjoyed traveling with Dad, her cousins, and Cathy and Marco, all over the U.S., a favorite destination being Las Vegas, NV. Mom longed to be with Dad after his passing in 2017, but the Lord granted her many more years, spending that time cooking, telling stories, taking care of her adopted faithful dog, Samson, playing card games and being extremely competitive.
Mom was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and had a devotion to Saint Jude. She faithfully attended the 7:00 a.m. daily mass and the 5:00 p.m. Saturday Vigil Mass.
Funeral services will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church on Monday, September 25, 2023. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by the recitation of the rosary at 10:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons and honorary pallbearer, great grandson, Isaiah.

Briseño, Jarik, and Lopez. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church Parish Fund. We miss you and will love you forever. Rest in peace Mom.
