Monica,
I enjoyed your memories of my Mom.  Buffy and Gordy were the little dog's names and we loved and spoiled them.  Your Mom actually brought them to us.  My Mom tried to teach me to crochet but I believe there is a saying or something about it skips a generation; I tried but am happy she taught so many cousins/family members.

I am a niece of Aunt Ella. She is older sister to my Dad, Jacinto.  Because I spent alot of time at and with  Grama Adela, I guess I was at  Aunt Ella's  alot as well  because she  taught me how to crochet. Although I didn't perfect it like she did,  I  have  fond  memories of her teaching me.  And every once in a while I will pick up my needle and yarn and start crocheting.  Like many of you, she crocheted beautiful blankets for each of my kids when I was pregnant.  Such beautiful and special gifts which will be cherished forever and passed down to their  children.  I also distinctly remember her two  pekingese  dogs, but for the life of me can't remember their names. I keep wanting to say Buffy and Jody for some reason. Can someone out there tell me please?  Aunt Ella was a very kind and thoughtful person.  A beautiful soul.  I will miss her. My prayers to her family.


   My deepest condolences to my (Ramirez) cousins on the passing of their beautiful mother "Ella". My father "Robert", was Ella's older brother. My childhood memories are similar to those expressed by my other relatives. Since we lived in Phoenix, as youngsters,  we would travel to El Paso for family vacations/reunions. It was wonderful as kids to mingle with our Ramirez, Ochoa, Madrid & Melendez cousins. Tia Ella was always "sweet & gracious" to all of us. May she rest in peace in Heaven...

My Aunt Ella was the younger sister to my father Andres "Chito" Melendez. Though I grew up in California, my father would take the whole family to El Paso every summer. I remember once as a kid staying at my aunt's house which had an outhouse! I remember how welcoming she always was during our visits, which is typical of all the Melendez. When I married, she crocheted a beautiful sweater and cap for my first baby which I still have more than 30 years later! On my last visit in November, I enjoyed just spending time with her and listening to stories about the family. As always, I would see all the pictures on the walls that I (and everybody else) would send to her over the years. On my last day she made a big pot of menudo that was delicious! I will miss her deeply, but I'll always cherish the memories ❤ Rest in Peace Aunt Ella

She is preceded in death by: Juan Antonio, Fernando, Roberto, Jorge, Agustin, Andres, Juan AntonioMelendez and Carmen Madrid.
