Liz, or as we know her Yaya was born in El Paso, Texas to Tony & Soledad Salom on January 16, 1953.
In 1972, Richard C White, Member of Congress recognized Liz’s accomplishment of being the first female student body president in the history of El Paso High School.
She graduated from UTEP earning both a Bachelors of Science in Education, and a Masters of Education. After these life milestones she was employed by EPISD at Beall Elementary School where she faithfully dedicated 25 years towards children’s health, and community welfare. In 1995-1996 Liz was honored as Beall Elementary School Campus Teacher of the Year.
With all this her greatest accomplishment was her selflessness. Better than most Liz understood that life was family and family was life. She donated a kidney to her sister Maggie granting us all the gift of time with a loved one.
On March 30, 2017 our angel was called home by the Lord. Liz is survived by her brothers John(Martha) & Jesse (Anna) Salom, her sisters Martha Romero (Richard), Nacima Kujok (Mohammed) and Soledad Baca (Epifiano), 14 nephews & nieces, 17 grand nephews & nieces, and finally her favorite companion her puppy dog Maxie.
We know Liz is looking down from above cheering on her favorite teams: the fearless EPHS Tigers, mighty UTEP Miners, and valiant Dallas Cowboys.
