Elexis Fallien Lara, 39, our beautiful daughter, mother, sister and friend, of El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 31, 2022 after a 19 month long battle with metastatic breast cancer. Elexis will always be remembered for her courage in battling the odds against this dangerous disease. She fought with no regard. She never showed weakness, sadness or defeat. She was our warrior.
Elexis was born in El Paso, Texas on October 12, 1982 to Elizabeth & Louie. In 1998, she and her family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she attended Cibola High School and made lifelong friends, who eventually became family. After high school, she married and moved to O'ahu, Hawaii where her daughter, Sophia Elizabeth Phillips, was born in 2005. Sophia was the reason Elexis fought so hard to live and love. Elexis also lived in Chicago, Illinois, where she ran a daycare, before moving back to El Paso. Elexis began a career at ESSCO International, Inc. in 2008 as their Office Manager. She attended Park University and graduated with Honors with her Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management in 2018.
Elexis was the glue and peacemaker of the family; she strived to keep her family as united as possible. Always placing everyone else first and putting herself last, until her last breath on this earth, she fought a good fight.
Elexis' passions and hobbies included being a mother to Sophia and her two dogs, Riggs and Eko. She enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends, attending Abundant Church, praise and worship was her favorite part, being that friend who was only a phone call or text away; collecting office supplies, organization and gnomes (but only for Christmas). She enjoyed all types of music and attending live concerts whenever she could. She loved game nights playing with family and friends; most recently playing many nights of poker (mainly being the dealer), phase10, and UNO with her sister, brother-in-law, and neices and nephews. Always trying to keep busy, Elexis was always doing something.
On the day of her diagnosis, she went into fight mode. Not a day went by that she didn't fight to survive. That was her will. Elexis held her family close to her heart and will forever be held close to her loved ones hearts'. As we all long for the love Elexis provided, we grieve her loss and remember her strong will and love she gave to each and everyone of us. She will be remembered for her strong, courageous, endless, selfless soul.
Elexis is preceeded in death by her grandfathers Ruben Rodriguez and Carlos Lara, her grandmother Gloria Rodriguez, and her sister Elainne Wegleitner. She is survived by her Mother Elizabeth Jacquez, (Husband, Fernando), Father Louie Lara (Wife, Aurora), daughter Sophia Elizabeth Phillips, sisters Erika Madrid, Erin Zamora (Husband, Ruben), step sisters Michaela Maxey, Gabriella Pacheco, and Jacqueline Picasso (Husband, Mitch), brothers, Louie Lara, Jr. and Caleb Lara, neices Syanne Sifuentes and Sadie Zamora, nephews Aaron Garza, Esyus Sifuentes, Jett Madrid, Ruben Zamora, and Hayden Zamora.
