Our wonderful mother, Elena (Helen) Pedregon Paz, left this world on July 1, 2022, to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born October 27, 1928 and was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Eliza Grijalva Pedregon; her husband of 66 years, Alfred; her beautiful daughter, Bertha; and brothers Samuel Pedregon and Raul Pedregon.
Helen was a 1946 Top Ten graduate of Ysleta High School. She retired as a librarian from the City of El Paso after 17 years of service at the Lower Valley Branch Library, just as her husband, Al, was a librarian.
Helen was talented at many things such as cooking, sewing and gardening. But she will best be remembered for the love of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and the love for her family and friends, whom she managed to always shower with affection with either a gift of her cooking or one of the many crafts that she made.
Those left behind to grieve their loss are her devoted children Alfred (Fred) Anthony (Elizabeth) Paz III and Irene Paz (Tom) Taylor. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Alfred Anthony Paz IV and Andrea Clarice Paz, Alex Lopez, David (Kimberly) Taylor and Elisa Taylor (Trey) Alvarado and Goddaughter Norma Hennessy; and great grandchildren, Chloe Taylor, Eden and Aspen Alvarado. Also left behind are her beloved sisters Connie Ortega of California and Alice (Sal) Olivarez of El Paso; Sister-in-Law, Mary Lou Sambrano; dear friend, Mrs. Manuel O. (Laura) Rivas; dear neighbors, Jose Luis and Susan Rodarte, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
We give thanks to God for the blessing of having her in our lives and for being a shining example of pure love, elegance and grace. Grateful thanks are extended to Blanca Cruz, her dedicated caregiver of almost three years. We will miss you, Dear Mother. Pallbearers include, Andrea Paz, Anthony Paz, Tom H. Guerra, Frank Sambrano, Oswaldo Votta, David Taylor and Kathy Silva.
