It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved husband, uncle, father, brother, and friend Eduardo Valdez (60). After a valiant five year battle with Cancer, he passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
He was born in El Paso and had a joyous upbringing filled with love. A graduate of Bel Air high school, Eddie went on to work for Phelps Dodge for 28 years, affectionately known as “Big Ed”. He was married to the love of his life for 38 years and went on to have 4 beautiful daughters.
Eddie was a loving father who took every opportunity to support his daughters’ after school extra curricular activities. He was a lifetime fan of the Denver Broncos, passionate about traveling and an avid camper. He was a very wise man who many looked to for guidance, a father figure, and mentor to all. He would frequently be seen riding his scooter around the community with his faithful partner in crime Layla, his beloved miniature poodle.
Although he will be dearly missed, the memories of his joyous spirit, laughter and wisdom will forever live on in the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. We will always love you papa.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Gabriela Valdez, his daughters Maida, María Isabel, Melanie, Marlena(Fabian) and sister Elizabeth Garcia (Jose) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving parents Federico and María Elena Valdez and sister Yolanda Isela Mercado.
Eduardo will be laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, Texas 79907.
Serving as pallbearers are James Marquez, Julian Garcia, Jose Garcia, Robert Atkins, Jorge Calvillo, Marco Mercado, Fabian Contreras and Alfredo Cabrales.
