  Doug and I worked together in the 80's and 90's and the moment I met him something in me told me that Doug is a good guy to know. And he was. 
  He always had a smile on his face and a kind word. The years I knew Doug it seems he always knew the right thing to say if I came to him with a problem. 
  I regret not keeping in touch after I moved here to Florida.  I can and will only say positive things about Doug because that's just who Doug was.
  He will be missed by his family and friends. 
  I say with much respect and love, goodbye old friend,  you will be missed.

I met Doug when I was in school while I was dating his son, Jacob. He was always very kind to me and made me feel welcomed. I am terribly saddened to hear of his passing. I can offer only my humble condolences to your family. 

Will always remember your twinkle in your Beautiful Blue Eyes...  always so serious not serious but I will always miss you "Doug" , 😭

Stargazing:
I remember watching and waiting to see Halley's comet's last appearance with you nearly 35 years ago. I was so excited to finally see it through our backyard telescope one evening! I remember you telling me how extraordinary it was for us to witness that and how often it reappears. I did the math quickly in my head and realized that the next time we saw it I would be 83.  Before I could open my mouth to say what year it would be, without skipping a beat you said, "I'll be turning 105 that year!" 🌠
