David Quiroz Gates, 29, passed away on April 23, 2013. He was born on December 30, 1983 in El Paso, Texas to John and Ann Gates. David graduated from El Paso High School in 2002 and received his Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Science at the University of Texas at El Paso in 2009. David worked as a biologist for an environmental consulting firm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was an avid environmentalist who loved the desert and all its beauty. David is survived by his parents John and Ann Gates; sister Andrea Gates-Ingle and husband Stephen Ingle; sister Cecilia Gates; grandfather David Q. Gates and wife Lucille Gates; aunt Renee O’Donnell and husband David O’Donnell; aunt Nancy Wodell and husband Rue Wodell; aunt Elsa Villa and husband Carlos Villa; uncle and godparents Reynaldo Quiroz and Nancy Quiroz; aunt Catherine Crooks; and uncle Benjamin R. Quiroz. He also had numerous cousins and extended family members. David preceded in death his grandmother Virginia Crooks, who passed on Saturday, April 27, 2013. He was a good man and will be greatly missed.
A Rosary Service will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N. Resler Dr., El Paso, TX. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Monday, April 29, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Keystone Heritage Park, 4220 Doniphan.
