Marine Private Charles A. Burrows, 69, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Burrows. He was a 1974 graduate of H. Grady Spruce High School and joined the Marine Corps in October, 1977. Charles completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. During the nine week training cycle, he learned the basics of battlefield survival. He was introduced to the typical daily routine that he will experience during his enlistment and studied the personal and professional standards traditionally exhibited by Marines. Charles participated in an active physical conditioning program and gained proficiency in a variety of military skills, including first aid, rifle marksmanship and close order drill. Teamwork and self-discipline were emphasized through the training cycle. Charles and his family had generations of plumbers and were members of the the Local 100 which was a union of plumbers and pipefitters. Charles enjoyed riding his motorcycle on free time, toy runs, family gatherings and most of all, spending time with Martha whether it was being home watching movies, out country dancing, having a quiet dinner or shopping for plants, antiques or items to remodel their home.
He was preceded in death by both his parents Charles and Gene; sons, Larry Gonzalez and Jerry Don Burrows and is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Martha Burrows; son, Michael Gonzalez and daughter, Sara Gonzalez; siblings, Troy, Sheryl, Debbie and Lucretia.
Visitation for Charles will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79903
