Carmen Hernandez, 76, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 13, 2025. She was a lifelong resident of El Paso,Texas and 1967 graduate of Burges High School. Carmen retired from WBAMC after 38 years of dedicated service. She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and UTEP Miners. She enjoyed trips to Laughlin and Las Vegas as well as outings with The Sizzling Red Hats for several years.
Carmen will be remembered for her courage and positive attitude in her battle with multiple sclerosis over many years.
Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, Arturo L. and Concepcion Hernandez, as well as her brother, Hector Hernandez; godmother and aunt, Alicia Moná,
She is survived by her partner, Ray Lucero, brothers Arturo Hernandez (Martha+) and Jorge Hernandez (Irene), sisters Graciela Reyes (Eutimio), Irma Barron (Mando Nieto+) and Gloria Narro (Robert+); sister-in-law, Melissa Hernandez. Also left to cherish her memory are her goddaughter, Norma Reyes, and numerous other loving nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family is grateful for the attention and care that Carmen received at Nurses Foster Home the past four years.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 5:00-9:00 PM with rosary beginning at 7:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home East, 1460 George Dieter Dr., El Paso, Texas. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 11:30 AM. at St.Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 10970 Bywood Dr., El Paso, Texas followed by internment at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
