On November 14, 2021, Carla Smith our beloved matriarch of our family took her last breath surrounded by her loved ones. A warrior throughout her life, she was 93 years old. Carla was a fearless God loving woman who dedicated herself to San Antonio De Padua Catholic Church over 70 years. Everyone who knew her, knew that she was a highly skilled hair stylist. She was also known as a fashionista always wearing the latest fads in fashion. She worked hard her entire life only to turn around and help everyone who surrounded her. She married Lawrence W. Smith (Larry) and they remained married for 49 years until his death on May 26, 1998. Her furry children, Peanut, Chico, Mandy were among many dogs who they loved and who accompanied them throughout their life. They also embraced the many nieces and nephews and always worried for them just like their own.
Carla is predeceased by her parents, Jesus and Rosa Lopez. Brothers, Henry +and Bertha Lopez, Mike+ and Esperanza Lopez and sisters Jesusita (Mary)+ and Fito Molina+ and Teresita Lopez+.
She is survived by her sisters who since childhood have had an unbreakable bond and who have taught us how to work hard and survive anything. Emma Lopez, MaryLou and Doug Gambee, RoseMary and Robert Salas. She is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews and several more great nieces and nephews.
We will miss the many years of laughter, her sharp wit and countless memories of fun. Carla was one of a kind.
We would like to thank her caretakers from the bottom of our hearts. Knowing that your loved one was well taken care during their last years of life is an irreplaceable comfort. Gracias Olga, Liz y Betsy por su paciencia, empatia y compasion. Nunca olvidaremos lo que hicieron por Carlotta. Thank you to her good friend Martha who early on would stay with Carla and accompany her for a couple hours a day.
The family wishes in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to San Antonio De Padua (Building Fund) Catholic Church on behalf of Carlotta Smith.
Lastly, we would like to thank Urgent Care Hospice and their angels Irma and Delia for making Carla’s final moments peaceful.
At this time Carla is in paradise eating unlimited bananas she could not eat due to her allergy. Save some for us Carla........we will see you soon. Rest in eternal peace with our Father Lord.
Carla’s services will be on November 29, 2021.
