Carlos Vega, affectionately known as "Vega," passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024, surrounded by his family in El Paso. Born on May 29, 1950, in Pecos, Texas, to Eusebio and Cruz Vega, Carlos spent most of his childhood on the south side of Odessa. He cherished the beautiful memories of his upbringing, from playing sports, working at a meat market, to assisting his beloved mother and growing up with his many siblings, who shared a deep bond. Carlos later joined the army and thus began the creation of his own family.
Carlos is survived by his devoted wife, Reyes, and his daughters, Linda Terrazas and Lupe Martinez (son-in-law Henry) and his four grandchildren, Ethan, Elisa, Maya, and Gianna, and were all a source of immense joy in his life. He is also survived by his oldest brother Joe. Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, Eusebio and Cruz, as well as his brothers Oscar, Ramon, Chato, Danny, Chuy, Beto, and his sisters Lupe and Estella.
Carlos found great joy in Sunday night football, fishing, grilling, and any activity that brought his family together. He was deeply committed to his Catholic faith, finding solace in prayer and scripture reading. Carlos was a kind and loving husband, an exceptional father, and an extraordinary grandfather. He served as a constant inspiration to all who knew him.
In his leisure time, Carlos delighted in tending to his lawn. He took great pride in his beautiful backyard, which served as a tranquil sanctuary for relaxation and quality time with loved ones. Carlos also had a passion for cooking and often hosted family gatherings, showcasing his grilling prowess and bringing people together through delicious meals.
Carlos will forever be remembered for his gentle heart, unwavering commitment to family, and boundless love and devotion to Reyes. His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
A visitation for Carlos will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Restlawn, 8817 Dyer St, El Paso, Texas 79904 with a rosary at 6:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 10000 Pheasant Rd, El Paso, Texas 79924 with a committal service to follow at 11:30 AM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906.
