Carlos Mier, 75 passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011 after a lengthy illness. He was born February 18, 1936 in Smeltertown, to Juan A. Mier Sr. and Amalia Sepulveda Mier. He was preceded in death by his wife Arcelia Alva Mier and brothers Daniel Mier Sr., and Salvador Mier. He is survived by his daughters Belinda A. Mier, Melissa Alva Mier and Michelle Pechan (Dennis), sisters, Dolores Mier Clark and Irene Mier Camacho, brothers, Juan A. Mier Jr., Enrique Mier and aunts, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a wonderful father who enjoyed playing golf, billards, horse racing and rooting for his beloved Bowie Bears, San Francisco 49er’s and St Louis Cardinals. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 5:00 P.M. at Martin Funeral Home West. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 9:00 A.M. at Holy Family Church, 900 W. Missouri Avenue, Father Joe Molina officiating. Interment will follow at 10:30 A.M. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full Military Honors.
