Born in 1936 and raised in El Paso, Kay graduated from El Paso High School, voted "Most Beautiful". She spent three years attending the University of Texas at Austin and completed her education degree at Texas Western College, now UTEP.
Kay was actively involved in the Church of St. Clement where she served as lay reader and chalice bearer. She was also active in UTEP Women's Auxiliary, PEO, weekly bible study, Pan American Round Table, Junior League of El Paso and Sun City Investors Club as President.
Kay loved to travel, going on an ocean cruise once a year. She also enjoyed the "slots" in Las Vegas, playing along with her sister. Del Mar, CA was her most favorite summer vacation where she enjoyed a beach house on the ocean.
Grandma, as she was called by her grandchildren and many who loved her, will always be remembered for her "Most Beautiful" smile and her acts of kindness to everyone she met. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and her close relationship with them. She was full of grace and will forever be in our hearts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos L. Carter and Rosa Lea Carter. Also, her brother Wm. L. Carter and sister Carol Lynn Martin.
