Bobby Joe Avery departed this life on June 27, 2017 after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He was born in Abilene, TX on October 22, 1945. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Lincious Avery, his mother Ruby Lee Williams Avery and his eldest brother Jerry Lee Avery. He is survived by his wife, Chaninton Clysuwan Avery, his son Andrew John Avery, his daughter Amy Ann Avery, and his two grandsons Ethan Robert Broussard and Raiden Jude Avery as well as brother James Avery, and two sisters Charlene Shewmaker and Shirley Workman.
Bobby served in the United States Army for 21 years to include Ft. Benning, Ft. Bragg, Thailand, and Ft. Bliss. After his retirement he taught JROTC at Parkland High School for 15 years, where he was well loved and respected by his students. Bobby was proud of being an Airborne Master Paratrooper serving in the 82nd Airborne Division and as an Army Ranger. He was a faithful Christian who loved his Lord and enjoyed lifting up his voice in praises to Him.
A memorial service will be conducted in his honor on Monday, July 10, 2017 beginning at 9 a.m. at Eastwood Church of Christ, 10104 Album Ave. in El Paso, TX with interment to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 11 a.m.
