Basilio G. Salinas, 90, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012. Captain Salinas was a long time resident of El Paso. He was retired from the US Army and civil service and was a member of the Catholic Church. He served as usher at St. Michael's Catholic Church at Ft. Bliss for many years. He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Socorro Salinas, his parents, Jose and Herminia Salinas of Corpus Christi, TX, his daughter-in-law, Vannys Salinas, his sister, Herminia Brown and brother, Carlos Salinas. He is survived by sons Carlos (Ruth), Universal City, TX; Robert (Eva), El Paso, TX; and Joe, Riverside, CA; seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Lauretta), Weimar, CA; brother-in-law, Ruben Andrade, and sister-in-law, Beatrice Andrade, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell Funeral Home at 8817 Dyer with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Ben Flores on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9025 Diana Drive.
