Aurora Tarango passed away peacefully on January 21, 2021 at the age of 90. She was a lifelong Ysleta resident and carried deep pride in its history. Aurora was born on September 21, 1930 in Ventura, California, to Concepcion Montoya and Elidia Dominguez. She met the love of her life, Daniel Tarango, at the Ysleta Mission, where they were married in 1948. They had a beautiful union lasting 70 years. Together they built Tarango Plumbing Company. She always made time to give back to her community and advocate for others. She was a tireless volunteer with her children’s school, her parish, and diocese. She served on numerous boards and Advisory Councils and was an active volunteer with the YWCA for many years. In the 1970s she had the opportunity to meet Mother Teresa of Calcutta and that encounter called her to serve the elderly. She volunteered at the former Sunset Haven and was a long-time Eucharistic Minister, visiting the elderly and home bound until her own health caused her to retire. Aurora was a woman of deep faith and a devoted Catholic. She instilled that faith, deep values and care for others in her children and grandchildren. She will be sincerely missed and remembered as fearless, brave, and determined. Aurora was preceded in death by her loving husband, Daniel; two sons, Daniel Jr. and Freddie; and her two siblings, Elena Acosta and Tony Montoya. She is survived by her children: Sister Yolanda Tarango CCVI, Danny (Gloria) Tarango, Irene (Manny) Baeza, Elida (Abraham) Saenz, David Tarango, Doreen Tarango; eleven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
