Our beloved Antonio "Corazon" "Tony" Macias, passed away peacefully in his home on May 22nd, 2023, just a few days short from celebrating an incredible 105 years on this earth. Antonio was a life-long practicing Catholic and was a proud father of three, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and husband, happily married for 74 years.
He served in Pacific Theatre in Okinawa as a U.S. Navy Sailor and completed his service as a "Motor Machinist's Mate Third Class". As the war ended, he was honorably discharged in 1945. After completing his service, Antonio returned home to El Paso, Texas where he worked as a rancher, a sheet metal worker, and at the local Phelps Dodge Refinery for 33 years. He retired in 1978 and became the owner of a small business specialized in landscaping.
Antonio was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Yolanda Macias and his two sons, Antonio Macias Jr. and Fernando Macias. He is survived by: his daughter Maria Isabel Macias Caraveo, grandchildren Gabriela Ruiz, Yolanda Caraveo, Alfredo Caraveo Jr., Laura Beckett and Antonio Macias, great-grandchildren Aaron Cervantes, Alex Cervantes, Sophia Ruiz, Natalia Ruiz, Sofia Macias, Skyler Beckett and Taylor B. Haigler and great-great-grandchildren Mila and Leila Haigler.
