Antonio (Tony) Lopez, of El Paso, Texas, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the tender age of 92 surrounded by his loving family in his home. Tony was born November 7, 1926 to Viviana Lopez in El Paso, Tx, the third of seven children.
Tony is a WWII Army Air Corps veteran, assigned to the PacificTheater as a crew chief in the 39th Fighter Squadron/35th Fighter Group and reached the rank of Sergeant. Upon his return and discharge from service, July , 1947 , Tony spent over 30 years
working as a USAF civilian at Holloman AFB, NM. With all that Tony did for his country,he always found time to be the best
Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend to anyone who knew him, could have. He loved his Dallas Cowboys, the VFW, his family and friends, and Coors. In his lifetime, Tony shared with loved ones and everyone around him, his gentleness, selflessness and always humor-filled grace. He was always kind, pleasant and smiling when you saw him. He graced us with his dedication and commitment to his family and friends every day of his life; and, we are honored and blessed as we remember the precious time that we have had with him. Tony is preceded in death by his lifelong wife Estela Heras Lopez, and he is survived by sister Santos Fierro, brother Peter Lopez, his sons Tony Lopez Jr. and Jaime Lopez, and daughters Yvonne Hobfoll, Lourdes Mayo and Patricia Montes De Oca, along with 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, extended family and a numerus friends. Visitation will be Sunday, 3 February 2019 between 5:00p – 9:00p, with Rosary at 7:00p. Graveside Service will be on Monday, 4 February 2019 at 11:00a. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, Deacon Juan Manuel Alvarez will officiate.
