into his next life while surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 8th.
He is survived by his wife and lifelong love of 64 years, Elizabeth (Blea), sister Carol Peters, and children:
Mike (Rita), Mary Ambriz, Steve (Lori), Barbara Montelongo (Steve), and Andy Jr, as well as 28 grandchildren and great grandchildren, with more on the way.
He was born on May 7th, 1940, in Capulin, New Mexico and raised in Raton, New Mexico. Andy joined
the US Army at age 18 and had an exemplary 20-year career earning numerous awards and
commendations, as well as taking his family across the US and the world. After retiring from the military,
he worked for Raytheon Corp, where he played a part in Desert Storm helping to keep the Patriot
missiles up and running to protect our troops. After several years in the private sector, he once more
answered the call to serve his country by starting a 16-year career with the US Border Patrol, serving in
the IOC here in El Paso. After he retired a second time, he finally settled into his true calling, being a fulltime grandfather.
Throughout his life, the one constant has been his love of family as the one guiding principle he wanted
us to live by. Our hearts may be heavy now, but he left a beautiful legacy with the family he created and
to the people who he touched in his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose, and mother, Terecita (Chavez), and siblings Alice (Trujillo),
Mary (Baca), Corrinne, and Julia (Da’Niell).
Our family would like to offer our sincerest thanks to the staff at Nazareth Living Care Center, Three
Oaks Home Hospice and WellMed El Paso for their compassion, concern, and friendship to our father.
