Ana Maria Hernandez, 84, of La Union, New Mexico, passed away on June 20, 2022. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Tony, sister Monica Poglajen and brother Luis de la Torre, along with her remaining children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Born on March 13, 1938, to parents Luis & Margarita (Magē) de la Torre. Ana Maria grew into a young woman who’s virtue and pure heart would find their matching soul in that of Antonio L. Hernandez whom she’d come to refer to as her “Honey.” In 1954, they married, enjoying 67 wonderful years together. They would go on to raise 6 beautiful children: Jose Luis (Joe), Paul (Locomotion), Jack, Ana Margarita (Sister), Francisco (Frankie), & Blanca (Whitey). Her children extended the family with 10 grandchildren, and their kids with 21 great grandchildren!
Those fortunate to meet Ana Maria, were left with the lasting impression she placed upon their foreheads, blessing them with the sign of the cross. A devout catholic, she followed those blessings with prayers she recited every day there after. Her devotion to God inspired Ana Maria to be a beacon of faith, and a pillar in the community and her church, Our Lady of Refuge. Her faith extended beyond words and prayer; she made it a part of her daily life, allowing her actions to be the voice of her conviction, and passing these virtues onto her family. Ana Maria recalled this as one of the greatest honors of her life.
2 Cor. 9:12-13 “the service that you performis not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for our generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.”
Now, Ana Maria has been called by Our blessed Father, to join both Him and her son Paul in heaven, where she will continue watching over us all, as our very own guardian angel.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church.
