Amado was born in El Paso, Texas to Fransica Simental Padilla. He attended and graduated from Ysleta High School. He proudly worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for 30 years.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and earned the UN Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
He was an major advocate of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He along with others helped to build the Catholic Church which made the community a strong one.
He formed the first Boy Scout Troop and was a volunteer firefighter in Moon City, Texas. Amado was also a member of both the Socorro High School football and band booster parent clubs.
He helped to incorporate the City of Socorro, Texas and was elected to be a council member for several terms and one term as the Mayor of the City of Socorro, Texas. During his service as a council member, he formed and oversaw the Socorro Recycling Center.
Amado was a one-of-a-kind person who worked with such a beautiful smile for his family and his community. He made such a difference and inspired others to do the same in a positive manner.
Amado is survived by his wife Jovita Padilla. He was predeceased by his son Fabian J. Padilla, Sr. He is survived by his son, Paul (wife Yoly Padilla), daughter Theresa Ann, and daughter-in-law Diane Padilla, 4 grandchildren: Fabian J. Padilla, Jr.(wife Roberta Mae Gabaldon), Samantha Nicole Padilla (husband James Edward Green), Thomas Padilla, and Miranda Leonor Padilla Apolinar (husband Francisco Apolinar Reyes), and 2 great-grandchildren, Fabian Andres Padilla, and Charlotte Olivia Green. He has one surviving sister, Cata Concha.
Amado was also predeceased by his mom Fransica Simental Padilla, his sister Mary Jordan, and his brothers, Victor, Fransico, Ramon, and Roberto.
Amado’s visitation service will be on Monday, March 28 at Martin Funeral Home East from 5 – 7 pm with the rosary beginning at 6 pm.
The mass will be on Tuesday, March 29 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 9:45 am. Interment will be at Fort Bliss Cemetery at 11:00 am.
The pallbearers are Paul Padilla, Fabian J. Padilla, Jr., Thomas Padilla, Tony De La Rosa, Eddie Ramirez, and Ralph Padilla. Fabian Andres Padilla is an honorary pallbearer.
Memorial donation in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
