Alicia Armendariz, 78, of El Paso died January 16, 2014. Born in Socorro, Texas, she is predeceased by her parents, Maximo and Lucia (Chavez) Nunez, daughter, Hilda, and brothers, Joe and Jerry Nunez.
Alicia (a/k/a "Licha") was a professional seamstress and accomplished homemaker. She attended Socorro and El Paso Vocational Schools, where she studied clothing and pattern design. Licha worked for the major El Paso department stores in the 1950s.
Survivors include husband Ricardo Sr., children Delia (Victor Peters) of Seattle, Rick, Jr. and Rudy; grandchildren Allison and Richard III Armendariz all of El Paso; siblings, Willie (Betty Sue) of San Antonio, Max of Los Angeles, Betty (Jay) Stevenson of Tulsa, Grace (Paul Viscio) of New York, and Roberto Nunez of New Mexico, as well as many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Our family is very appreciate of Alicia’s best friend and cousin Nora, sister-in-laws Maria and Nellie, and others who supplied love and support during her long illness; additionally, neighbors and friends Peggy and Mark who provided spiritual and nutritional nourishment. And to the professionals who applied their skills, talents and dedication caring for Alicia: Dr. Harvey Greenberg, Dr. Gerard Crecca, and Providence emergency Dr. Nguyen and her staff, and to CNAs, Andrea Ramirez and Anna Trujillo.
Rosary is Friday, January 24th, 6-9 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral - Westside, and a celebratory mass Saturday, January 25th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church.
