Alice P. Sawyer

Alice Pauline Sawyer, 90, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2016. Polly, as she was affectionately known, was born in Bonham, Texas. She grew up a small town girl from Jacksonville, Texas but became a world traveler in her adult life. Polly enjoyed writing and reading poetry, and loved her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major (Retired) John J. Sawyer and their son, Curtis Clifford, Jr. She is survived by son Jim Sawyer (Karen), son John W. Sawyer and daughter Becky Cole (Les). Polly is also survived by her grandchildren Clay Clifford (Shanna), Chad Clifford (Dana), Cheri Peek (Ricky), Chandra Robins (Kenneth), Jimmy Ray Sawyer (Renee), Scott Sawyer, Joel Sawyer (Jenny), Sara Davis (Tim), Katie Renner (Richard) and Landon Cole as well as numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Graveside service will be held Friday, April 1st at 10:30 a.m. at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Christian Church, 10453 Springwood Drive El Paso, TX 79925 or to the Center for Compassionate Care West, 1575 Belvidere Avenue, El Paso, TX 79912.
