Alberto Molina, III, age 97, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2024, in El Paso, Texas. Mr. Molina was a native resident of El Paso, a World War II Combat Veteran in the United States Marine Corps, and a lifelong devoted parishioner of San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church where he served as a Hospitality Minister and Eucharistic Minister for many years. Before he retired, he worked as a Power Ground Equipment Mechanic Leader in the United States Army Air Defense Board. After retirement, Mr. Molina volunteered at The Lord’s Food Bank in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, performing home repairs and as a mechanic for elderly women and widows.
Mr. Molina married the love of his life, Beatriz Andrea Melendez († 1981), in 1950, in El Paso, Texas. He is predeceased by his daughter, Maria del Carmen Molina († 2017). Mr. Molina is survived by his sons, Jesus Alberto (Bertha) Molina, Miguel (Laura) Molina and David (Evelina) Molina, Sr.; his daughters, Beatriz (David) Molina Irrobali and Elizabeth (José) Alvarez; his grandchildren, Vanessa (Alex) Rocha, Erika Trinidad, Jacqueline Molina, Victoria Molina, Kasandra (Paul) Marriott, David (Elsa) Molina, Jr., Ruben (Rachel) Molina, Christina Molina, Becky (Jesse) Brumbaugh, Trish (John) Reilly, Darlene Michelle (Enrique) Gutierrez, Jonathan (Allison) Irrobali, Andrew (Andrea) Irrobali, Matthew Irrobali, Catherine Irrobali, and Carmen Marie (Ryan) Ross; his 23 great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Josefina D. Molina and Maria Dolores Molina.
“Beto” told his best friend, Henry Castro, that as soon as he saw Beatriz at his older brother’s wedding, he knew she was the woman he was going to marry; and he adored her his whole life. He was immensely creative and a self-taught man who enjoyed working with his hands. As a man of many talents, some of his hobbies included woodworking, carpentry and mechanics. Beto was fiercely devoted to his family and loved having them all around him, which included not just his children and grandchildren, but also his siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and all his extended family. There were many times when a “small” family get-together could include 50 relatives or more! He had a laugh that would shake his whole body and a smile that could grow so big, his eyes would disappear into squints. His legacy will not just include the love he had for his ever-growing family, but also his devotion for his Savior, Jesus Christ. For just as Beto was a loving husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend, he was undeniably a Man of Christ and Servant of God.
