Albert graduated from Jesuit High School and later the University of Texas at El Paso, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Master of Liberal Arts degree in Education. As a teacher at Riverside High School, he taught Biology, Physical and Environmental Science, and other science-related courses.
His classroom always had enjoyable and exciting experiments and objects meant to inspire students in the sciences. He was also a ham radio operator (KB5KWW), gardener, and desert explorer, enjoying the company of critters and plants.
Retirement after 31 years of teaching did not slow him down. Enrolling in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UTEP piqued his interest in new subjects to enrich his education.
Above all, his treasure was his wife and three children, and ultimately two grandchildren who were the “joy of his life.”
We thank God for the gift of beautiful years spent with him. Our dearest Albert, we love you and miss you.
Albert is survived by his spouse of 46 years, Irma Gemoets; his son Alberto Ambiorix Gemoets III; his daughter Cristiana Clara Johnson (Victor Johnson); and his daughter Ana Elisa Renteria (Jeremy Renteria); his sister Victoria Morrison (Kent Morrison), his sister Guadalupe Sierra (Carlos Sierra), his brother Dr. Ernesto Gemoets (Maria Gemoets); his brother Dr. Leopoldo Gemoets (Hilda Gemoets); his granddaughter Victoria Simone Johnson and his grandson Cameron Lazarus Rue Johnson.
