ALBERT ROBERT COX passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the age of 80. He was an avid sport's lover and was a member of the Athens High School mile relay team which set the state record at the time. He was also a nationally accomplished handball player. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged and attended Baylor University and graduated with an MBA. He also taught accounting in various cities and moved to El Paso in the mid 1950's where he continued to teach at UTEP and became a partner in a local CPA firm. He continued to practice accounting in El Paso for 40 plus years and was a partner in 2 national accounting firms before retiring and pursuing other business opportunities. He is survived by his wife Maurine Cox, children: Marcus Alan Cox, Robert Martin Cox, Laura Cox Smyer, and Albert Robert Cox Jr., grandchildren: Taylor Jean Cox, Kendall Ann Cox, Olivia Ruth Smyer, brother-in-laws: Jack F. Melton, William B. Melton, sister-in-law: Barbara V. Marshall and mother-in-law: Mary E. Melton. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 11:45 AM at Martin Funeral Home West, with Pastor Ron Acton officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc.
