William Willard Watson, 80 of Mount Holly, passed away Monday, May 30, 2016, at Baptist Health Springhill, in North Little Rock, AR. He was born April 11, 1936, to William Arthur and Merriel Eubanks Watson in Mount Holly, AR.
He was a lifetime member of Silver Hill United Methodist Church and was retired from Southwestern Bell where he worked 41 years and worked an additional 5 years with an independent telephone company. He was a life-long trapper of coon, fox and other animals and served as the Past State Director of the Arkansas Trappers Association. He along with his wife, were named Mr. & Mrs. Trapper of the Year, he was Trapper of the Year, and was a member of the Trappers Hall of Fame. Every year he attended the state convention at Pettit Jean Mountain. He also taught a trapping camp every October at Camp Clear Fork in Mt. Ida for future trappers.
Preceding him in death are his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 38 years, Charlotte Wilson Watson; two daughters, Diann Bailey (Mike, Charlotte’s son-in-law), Kristi Rose (Steve) all of Mount Holly; three sons, Gordon Douglas Watson of El Dorado, W. Wayne Watson (Connie) of Springdale, AR, Jeffrey Williams (Missy) of Pigeon Hill, AR; two sisters, Peggy Hight (Johnny Roy) of Homer, LA, Joyce Edwards of Haynesville, LA; fifteen grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Young’s.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Silver Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Leon Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Hill Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
