He was a self-employed oilfield contractor and a member of First Baptist Church of Smackover. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting and camping and had a love for grilling and spending time with his grandchildren.
William is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Blonnie, Ruth, Oneta, Billie Jean; three brothers, James, Clyde Lee, Newton; and wife of 50 years, Doris Jean Burns Gandy.
Survivors include his two daughters, Vicki deYampert (Gary) of Smackover, Cathy Durain of Haughton, LA; three grandchildren, Eric deYampert (Casey) of El Dorado, AR, Tiffany Dortch (Michael) of Haughton, LA, Allison Durain (fiancée Joe Pawlus) of Little Rock; four great grandchildren, Ellye and Beckett deYampert, Christian and Reagan Dortch; sister, Martha “Mott” Sellers (Charlie) of El Dorado AR; and special niece, Glenda Rabun of El Dorado.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm. Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Young’s.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Smackover with Rev. Carly Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors. Serving as pallbearers are Brad Herring, John Barker, Greg Rowan, Mike Rowan, Glen Thomas, Greg Sales, Joey Ward and Tommy Norrell.
The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Davis and the staff of Courtyard Health and Rehab for the loving care given to Mr. Gandy.
