He was born on March 24th, 1961 in Houston, Texas to Buddy and Betty (Vickery) Ruby. Mike spent his younger years in South Houston and Freeport, Texas before graduating in 1979 from Eureka High School in Eureka, Missouri. After high school, Mike attended and graduated from Abilene Christian University.
Mike married Stephenie (Graff) on August 12, 1989. They had 31 wonderful years together. On May 14th, 1991, their first child, Braden Michael was born. Two years later on June 21st, 1993, they welcomed Emily Ruth. Olivia Grace then blessed their family on June 5th, 1996 and then Bennett Arthur was born on November 1st, 1999.
Mike loved more than anything watching his kids do what they loved. Whether it be a band or choir concert, or a football or baseball game…he was the biggest supporter there if his kids were involved.
After graduation, Mike worked for American Capitol Mutual Funds and then worked for SM&R for 14 years before going to work for Southeast Drywall. Mike took his job very seriously and always wanted to do his very best.
Mike loved the Lord. He grew up going to Main Street Church of Christ where his dad, Buddy was an elder. Mike was baptized at an early age and walked with God until he took his last breath. He served the church as a song leader, deacon and elder, both at Main Street and New Beginnings.
Mike is survived by his wife, Stephenie, his son Braden and wife Megan, daughter Emily, daughter Olivia and son, Bennett. Mike was loved by so many people. He was such a kind, gentle and Godly man. He will be missed greatly, but we know because of Jesus that we will see him again and this is just a temporary separation.
