Margaret Spencer Pierce, 70, of El Dorado, Arkansas, was received into heaven on Saturday, October 22, 2022, surrounded by her family. She and her identical twin, Mary Spencer Depper, were born at Warner Brown Hospital in El Dorado, Arkansas on June 3, 1952, to James Victor Spencer, Jr. and Mary Strawn Spencer.
Margaret attended high school in El Dorado, graduating in 1970. She subsequently attended William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, earning degrees in English and Higher Education. In 1985, Margaret took a position with Marmik Oil Company as a petroleum landman. She continued in that position for 31 years and considered her co-workers her friends. Margaret retired from Marmik Oil Company in 2017.
Margaret was dearly beloved by her family. She devoted herself to her roles as wife, daughter, sister, and aunt. She traveled around the state and country, ensuring she attended every milestone in her family members’ lives; weddings, baptisms, graduations, school performances, athletic events. Her nieces and nephews remember her as a confidant, someone that was always there to provide advice or just listen. She enthusiastically followed the twists and turns of her family’s lives and was the ultimate cheerleader.
Animals enriched Margaret’s life and she was a proud supporter of the Union County Animal Protection Society (UCAPS). Throughout her life, she had many dogs and cats that she doted on. Her beloved Sugar Baby was her final pup. She and her husband, Billy, loved her dearly.
Margaret lived a life of Christian praise and devotion. In happy times and in times of trial, Margaret put her faith in the Lord. The Lord was ever faithful to Margaret. Margaret carried her faith with her, and it was demonstrated in her positivity, gracefulness, and treatment of others. She never allowed the circumstances of the cancer diagnosis and treatment to dull her joy or devotion to the Lord. Margaret cared for everyone around her, family and strangers alike. She made everyone feel comfortable and was truly interested in learning about them and their lives.
Praise through song was an integral part of Margaret’s life. Margaret was blessed with a beautiful singing voice, and her voice was her ministry. She led praise and worship at Victory Church in Camden, Arkansas and at Joy Community Bible Study in El Dorado, Arkansas. In 2013, she was invited to join the praise team for the international ministry, Ministries of Pastoral Care. She traveled to Switzerland, Italy, and New Zealand, lifting up the Lord with her voice.
Margaret lived her life with joy, grace, and devotion to both her family and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her bright, sweet spirit will be greatly missed.
Margaret was preceded in death by her father, James Victor Spencer, Jr., mother, Mary Strawn Spencer, brother-in-law, Bob Depper, and sister-in-law, Coralee Spencer.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Billy, whom she married December 29, 1990; her twin sister, Mary Depper; her brothers, Jim (Diana) Spencer and Rick (Brenda) Spencer; her nieces, Mary Carol (Jason) Pederson, Sarah (Glen) Wolters, Elizabeth Spencer, Margaret “Annie” (Kiril Kolev) Depper, Mary Candace (Noah Moses) Depper, and Heather Grace Spencer; her nephews, Robert (Aimée Papazian) Depper, Christopher (Christa) Spencer, and James (Grace) Depper; and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
