Louise Elizabeth Wright Massey, 92, is Finally Home! She peacefully left this life on earth at home and met Jesus face to face on Tuesday morning, April 28, 2020. She is dancing in the streets of Heaven with all those who touched her and the many lives that she touched. Born on June 15, 1927 in Eufaula, Alabama, she was the daughter of Jerdy Albert Wright and Mabel Glover Wright.
Louise graduated from Eufaula High School as Valedictorian and then went to Auburn University where she majored in Physical Education with a Bachelor of Science degree. She married the love of her life, Frank Estes Massey, Jr. on September 9, 1948. They were married for 61 years before Frank passed away in 2010.
Louise taught 7th grade geography in El Dorado for many years. She also taught a 4th grade Sunday School class at First Baptist Church and was very involved in Women on Missions. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers’ Association and Auburn Alumni Association and remained a life-long loyal War Eagle fan. She volunteered for many years at IHS and was recognized along with her husband, by the Chamber of Commerce in 2000 as one of the “Five Who Care” recipients.
With her southern grace and charm, Louise loved her family, church and friends. She taught her children to love God, to read the Bible daily, to always pray for others and to promptly write “thank you” notes.
She was quite a “lady”, a southern belle in “all” aspects. She was one of a kind and will be missed dearly by family and friends. Caregivers have been a part of her life for many years and she always expressed sincere appreciation for what they did. Through the years, Sheena Ford Kimble became family as she cared for Frank and Louise. Sheena was instrumental in providing the best care and caregivers. The family would also like to thank Bonnie Warwick, Cassie Watson, Conswaley Bradley, Darlene Greene, Debbie O’Brien, and Sandra McHenry.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Mary Ann Simmons (David), Franklin, TN, Kay Darnell (Ed), Franklin, TN and Wright Massey (Nancy), Horseshoe Bay, TX., six grandchildren, Megan Massa (Joe) of Brentwood, TN, Blair Osler (Matt) of Nashville, TN, Holly Darnell of Nashville, TN, Elizabeth Massey of Nashville, TN, Jennifer Ludlow (Drew) of Bangkok, Thailand, Nathan Sellars (Megan) of Leander, TX, nine great grandchildren and one sister, Sara Kirby of Wetumpka, AL.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, El Dorado, Arkansas, Interfaith Help Services (IHS) of El Dorado, Arkansas and Hope Landing of El Dorado, Arkansas.
In keeping with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations regarding public gatherings there will be no public visitation or services at this time. Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced by Young's Funeral Directors at a later date.
