Larry retired from working as a Plant Manager from chemical plants after over 30 years of employment. He proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Pine Island and was honorable discharge. Larry was a member of Istrouma Baptist Church and the Parker/Womack Adult Bible Fellowship in Baton Rouge, LA. He attended Southern State College in Magnolia, AR and graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge, LA.
Larry enjoyed watching and attending all sports games especially LSU baseball and football. He was a true animal lover and found great joy in his beloved dogs, Batman and Robin. Larry had a witty sense of humor and loved to make his family laugh at his story telling. He felt blessed in his final years by the love from his church family at Istrouma Baptist and Pastor Ginn.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Woodrow and Lamar Reynolds Rowland, brother James Rowland, grandsons, Bryant Kite and Skyler Rowland.
He is survived by his wife, Glenna Boykin Rowland, of 57 years and son, Larry Rowland Jr., daughter, Cherie Rickard, son-in-law Wendell Rickard, and daughter, Carla Vickers; Grandchildren, Kristina Bovia and her husband Trey, Holden Vickers, Carson Rickard, Josh Rowland, Shelby Rowland, and great granddaughter, Roxanne Bovia.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and therapists as well Clarity Hospice Care from Baton Rouge for their assistance and loving care.
Visitation at Youngs Funeral Directors will be from 10 am to 11 am, Monday, July 30, 2018 followed by funeral services in the Chapel with Rev. Brian Trostle officiating. Military honors at Rest Haven Memorial Garden.
