Born on November 26, 1939 in Smackover, AR; he was the son of William O. Butterfield and Gladys Ragsdell Butterfield. John was a training director for Lion Oil Company. He was a member of the Norphlet Church of Christ, the Wildwood Water Association Secretary, member of the Ware Deer Hunting Club and coached at Parkers Chapel and Norphlet Schools. He was a people person with a magnetic personality.
John was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Smith and Patricia Horras and one brother, Terry Butterfield.
Survived by his wife, Thresa Colvin Butterfield; son, Scott Butterfield (Tina) of Norphlet, AR; daughters, Sharon Crenshaw (Scot) of Searcy, AR and Laura Adams (Don) of Bartlett, TN; grandchildren, Christie Galusha (Clarke), Amber Butterfield, Sarah Pumphrey (Marcus), Brandon Butterfield, Nick Crenshaw, Morgan Ikeorha (Chudi) and Jordan Crenshaw (Laken); great-grandchildren, Jasper and Alder Galusha, Dakota, Leila and Cole Pumphrey, Alex Butterfield and Ellie Crenshaw.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00P.M. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Young’s Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, November 27th at Young’s Chapel with Bro. David Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Serving as pallbearers are Nick Crenshaw, Jordan Crenshaw, Brandon Butterfield, Clarke Galusha, Marcus Pumphrey, Bruce Butterfield, Paul Garris and Ed Langston.
