She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for 70 years, where she taught Sunday School. Jo loved the Lord and knew she would spend eternity with Jesus. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her grandsons, playing cards and games and enjoying T-top car rides. Enjoying bicycling well into her 70s, Jo was also an avid bird watcher and loved viewing God's creation from her back patio. Jo was blessed with a wealth of friends, who always enjoyed traveling together.
Preceding her in death are her parents along with a brother, Charles Clark McGough and a sister, Marie Buchanan.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 71 years, Benny Cox; daughters, Benita Burton (Steve), and Becki Schultz; grandsons, Clark Burton (Alison), Ross Burton (Kaci), Trey Schultz (Gisela), Forrest Schultz (Holly); and great grandchildren, Tripp Burton, Chance Burton, Chet Burton, Ryder Schultz, and Caroline Schultz.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Smackover Cemetery. A reception and celebration of Jo’s life will follow on her birthday at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church.
