Born on August 5, 1934 in El Dorado, he was the son of James Earl Thomas, Sr and Elora Bradley Thomas. He was a 1952 graduate of Parkers Chapel High School and was retired as a salesman at Radio Service Company after 30 years employment. He had also served his country as a member of the Army National Guard.
Mr. Thomas had been a member of First Assembly of God Church for 34 years, serving in several positions and was a member of the Full Gospel Business Men. At the time of his death he was member of the Spring Creek Assembly of God Church in Edmond, OK.
Preceding him in death along with his parents were a brother, Charlie Nelson Thomas and a sister Letha Fern Love and a grand-daughter, Heather Birkeland Price.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Delores Kennedy Thomas of Edmond, OK, a daughter Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Vaughan and her husband Danny of Edmond, OK, a son James Byron Thomas and his wife Denise of Savannah, GA and a brother, William Wayne “Bill” Thomas and his wife Debbie of Van Buren, AR. Surviving grandchildren and their spouses are Kirsten Alexander (Marc), Seth Birkeland (Chasity), Elora Collver (Matthew), Dru Birkeland (Kailey), Byron Dale Thomas (Lisa), Terry James Thomas, Michael Dee Bradshaw, Sara Vaughan, David Vaughan, Ian Vaughan and a grandson-in-law, Brian Price along with 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Monday, April 16, 2012 at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Greg Tucker and Rev. Al Womack officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:30 A.M. Monday until service time at First Assembly of God Church.
